here's a custom I completed a while back, obviously he's on the paso fino mold. I painted him with pastels and acrylic paint, all hooves, both eyes, ears and 'private parts' are glossed. I might put models up for sale from time to time if anyone shows interest in him. If not well then I'll just fill my shelves up with them!
*try to get past the rock in the background, my sister wanted in the picture.
The Midnight Artist
Previously called 'Dixie studios' I decided that the new name 'The Midnight Artist' fitted better due to the fact that I do a lot more then just customizing model horses, In addition to that I draw and paint on canvas. Also what time I seem to always choose to work on projects...midnight. Not the best idea nine times out of ten but it's the way it is. Jordan

Hmm something's changed.
Yep!
It's new and well hopefully improved.
I've decided it would be best for me to post every Friday that way you can have a nice amount to read per post. I feel that this will be more manageable for me to keep up with.

I thought I was going to die/ updates
My allergies have been acting up horribly since my last post. I pretty much felt like I was dead-a zombie even!(being the reason for no posts)But my house is under a nice canopy of oak trees...and their blooms. But I survived!! At least for now anyway.
So there has been no progress on anything and I desperately need epoxy but the brand I am working with now well...I just don't like it very much. I was looking into magic sculpt but I couldn't find a website/store with any in their catalogs. Please, If anyone can help me find it I would be ever so grateful!
And I know that there are a lack of pictures in most of the blogs history I'm sorry for that I just don't have near as much time as I thought these days but I assure you that will have them in my next post.
And truthfully I don't think anybody reads the blog, they may just click and be like "oh nice a blog...moving on!" I want them to be like "oh wow somebody collects model horses like I do!"
So if you thinking about following my blog please, do it because you like the posts. Not that you want to please me.
Okay that last bit was my small little rant sort of deal for today!

Custom progression
I've finished the stablemate! But I also started a drastic custom hehe!
Unfortunately, I tried to take pictures but my camera just died...as soon as I had everything set up it. Just. Died...lovely huh?
I'll get pictures up tomorrow for certain.

I'm back for real this time
I have now made it a point to *make* myself blog everyday.
So since that's there. I'll be painting my Pixel resin over the next few weeks and I'll post as much progress as I can get. Still not entirely sure about color, I've changed my mind hmm... seven times now?
to top the morning off I had Pixel fly off the shelf onto the (wood) floor and snap his ear off. Amazingly I found the ear! So I've now glued it back on, had that not happened I would have sprayed primer on him this morning. Then my light I had stuck underneath my shelf fell off onto my cutting board(a piece of glass out of an old picture frame) and broke it...no saving that-I had to chuck it out. So I either have to a)find a frame for cheap and take the glass out or b)Breakdown and buy a real cutting board. Choice A it is!
I went to town and got that done for $2 it hasn't broken...so far. Then I stared at Pixel for an hour and changed my mind again, he is now going to be a mulberry grey. Since he fell I've taken more time prepping so to feed the painting beast I found a stablemate paso fino body and chose the color black! Simple? Not so much, I've just gotten the body color done in all that's about 12 hours of work eyes hooves and marking are next. I'm thinking about putting him up for trade on MH$P but I want to know what My readers think. Would you be interested in a horse painted by me?(keep in mind I don't take commissions) If so I'd love to hear, just post a comment down below! If you have any questions just ask!

I can tell it's winter, cause I can't do hardly anything
hey y'all,
well I haven't been up to much lately since it's January and as you know primer and drastic weather do not mix well. So I am prepping! (I know I'm nuts) I love to prep horses nearly gotten Pixel to the last stages. He was such a clean cast and He's a dream to prep! I swear when this crazy dad gum weather gets warmer and stays warmer he will begin to be painted.
Oh by the way! Since it's the new year I did a little bit of work to the studio(aka part of my room) I have this new shelf right over my desk! So a studio tour is in the works right now. But other than all that it's been pretty dead besides skiveing leather...still hate it. But it did lead to a stablemate scale headstall! I'll have to get a picture of that so y'all can see it.
Now, if you excuse me it's cold outside so I am now going to try not to freeze my fingers off. :P

Breaking The Silence!
well it has been months since my last post, I'm sorry for dropping y'all like that just out of nowhere but life got a little hectic but its all good now and I've got Christmas break coming up this Friday so I'll be blogging (hopefully) every day now!
As far as the studio go's I have been working on some things mainly a stablemate scale desert tan western saddle set. You see I have started working in this scale so much that I have decided to move to that scale, don't worry if you've only read my blog cause I worked in trad scale-I'll still be doing some of that, just not as much as I have.
I'm still customizing too. That will probably involve a whole lot of traditional! But there is one little guy that I am definitely going to paint, my copy of Morgen Kilbourn's Pixel! This little dude is my first ever resin so he means a whole lot to me (Morgen if your reading this thank you so much I love him!) I'm thinking either dun, buckskin, palomino or appaloosa but you never know he could change by the time I get him all prepped.
So that's about what I've been up to lately if y'all know that I have a YouTube account then I will tell you I'm working on lots of videos right now so I haven't left YouTube either;)
Oh before I forget!
Lauren Mauldin over at She Moved to Texas is having a model horse giveaway (which includes a traditional sized doll by Anne Field, a traditional sized Mon Gamin and a whole bunch of other amazing things) if you want to enter head over to this Blog post and make sure to follow her blog while your at it. But better hurry because the giveaway ends in 4 days!
